What is a dragon?

A support gear that can be assigned to a general to enhance that general’s abilities.

Advantages of dragons

  • Increases the general’s attributes.
  • Each dragon has its own buffs.
  • You can add buffs of your choice through refinement.

By training your dragon, you can receive these benefits.

A well-developed dragon will add approximately +100 or more to each of the general’s attributes, and will have greater buffs than a spiritual beast.

For example, a Spiritual Beast can buff a ranged troop’s attack by up to +30%. For dragons, theoretically, a maximum of +60% to +125% is possible. (in the case of dragon level 10) (The maximum value depends on the dragon)

Types of Dragons

There are a total of 12 types of dragons, but they can be roughly divided into the following two categories.

  • Pasture dragons
  • Sacred dragons (Dragon Criff)
Pasture Dragon
  • Celtic Demon *red
  • Jawzahr *purple – light blue
  • Fafnir *purple
  • Fasolt *pink
Sacred Dragon
  • Norway Ridge *light blue
  • The dragon of Thebes *gold
  • Nidhogg * black
  • Ladon *emerald green
  • Amaterasu Dragon *white
  • Colchian Dragon *green
  • Ziz *Purple – Pink
  • Yggdrasil *Light brown

NOTE – Some generals have skills that only work if you assign a dragon to them, but be careful, because the type of dragon may be specified.

For example: Isabella I – Sacred Dragon
(Changed from Norway Ridge with the ver4 major update on 11/4/2021.)

* With the ver4 major update on 11/4/2021, some generals no longer have this designation and can be used with any dragon. (Elektra, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Martinus, Ulysses S. Grant are changed from Pasture Dragon)

Primary Usage of Each Dragon (Skill & Talent List)

Each dragon has a different buff (Skill & Talent (later mention)) and is roughly categorized into different areas of strength.

Therefore, you should decide which dragon to assign depending on what your general is good at.

Example of Dragon Attachment

Which dragon should be attached to which general depends on the progress of the game and the level of payment.

For small charge

  • Ranged General – Celtic Demon
  • Ground General – none
  • Mounted General – Fafnir
  • Siege General – none
  • Defense General – none

For medium charge

  • Ranged General – Celtic Demon
  • Ground General – Norway Ridge
  • Mounted General – Jawzahr
  • Mounted General (Boss Hunt) – Fasolt
  • Siege General – Fafnir
  • Defense General – The dragon of Thebes

For heavy charges

  • Ranged General – Ladon
  • Ground General – Amaterasu Dragon
  • Mounted General – Ziz or Nidhogg
  • Mounted General (Boss Hunt) – Fasolt
  • Siege General – Colchian Dragon
  • Defense General – Yggdrasil or The dragon of Thebes
  • (Secondary) Ranged General – Celtic Demon or Jawzahr
  • (Secondary) Ground General – Norway Ridge
  • (Secondary) Mounted General – Ziz or Nidhogg
  • (Secondary) Siege General – Fafnir

Dragons whose use varies greatly depending on the situation (Fafnir, Jawzahr, Fasolt)

Fafnir

Basically, mounted troops are its main use.

However, late in the game (guideline: k38 and above), when a strong siege machine is needed, a dragon for siege is required.

The dragons for siege are either Fafnir or Colchian, but Colchian is extremely difficult to obtain.

In this case, it is more realistic to use Jawzahr as mounted troops and Fafnir as a siege machine.

Jawzahr

The most common buff it has is the ranged buff, but it is inferior to the Celtic Demon in that aspect, so most people will mainly use it for other purposes. (mounted troops or defenders).

Mainly early game. (Approximate: less than k33)
If you don’t have a Thebes Dragon, and your main force is ranged and mounted troops, with few ground or siege and not your main force.
-> Defender.
(Ranged: Celtic Demon)
(Mounted: Fafnir)

In the case of a defense with the ground as the main force (approx. k35 or so), attaching Jawazahr as a defender will not help much. Godzilla, the spiritual beast, may be more suitable (depending on the degree of Godzilla’s developing).

Mainly late in the game. (Approximate age: k38 and above)
For players who need a strong siege machine unit.
If you have Fafnir and do not have Colchian.
-> Mounted Troops.
(Siege: Fafnir)
(Ranged: Celtic Demon)
(Defender: Yggdrasil or Thebes Dragon)

Mainly BoC and All-Star top rankers.
If you have Nidhogg or Ziz.
-> Ranged General for secondary or reinforcements.
(Mounted: Nidhogg or Ziz)
(Ranged: Ladon or Celtic Demon)
(Defender: Yggdrasil or Thebes Dragon)
(Siege: Fafnir)

Fasolt

Basically, the main use is to put it on mounted generals for monster hunting.

However, ground troops buffs are not bad either, so if getting Norway Ridge (i.e., getting a top 5 personal ranking in SvS) is difficult for someone, they can put Fasolt on a ground general.

If you attach a dragon to other than the main general, does it work (Assistant, Duty Officer, Sub-city Mayor)?

Assistant

Basically no effect. The buffs/debuffs that the dragon has do not work.

However, if the Assistant general’s skill is a skill that is not activated without the dragon, it must be attached.

Related: Assistant Generals Guide

Duty Officer

No effect. The buff/debuff that the dragon has does not work.

However, it does increase the general’s power, so if power is included in the requirements to be a duty officer, you may put it on when you make the general your duty officer. (No problem if the dragon is removed after the assumption of office.)

Note – Attaching a dragon will increase the general’s attribute, but this does not count as a requirement for assignment.

Related: Duty Officer Guide

Mayors of Subordinate City

Effective.

However, the buff is applied to soldiers in subordinate cities, not to the main army, so the benefit is quite small.

The debuff is effective (if a subordinate city is participating in the battle). This benefit is significant.

How to Assign and unassign a dragon to a general

To assign a dragon to a general, open the general’s details screen and press the dragon symbol in the upper left corner. The same goes for unassigning.

general's details screen and the dragon symbol in the upper left corner

Dragons are “WEAK” if you don’t train them

Immediately after obtaining, no buffs. General Attribute Boost is less than +10. You need to train it in the following ways.

There are 3 main ways to grow dragons.

  • Leveling Up (Feeding)
  • Refining
  • Talent Awakening

IMPORTANT – Plan for Dragon Growth

First, you should concentrate on “Refining” your dragon.
Until the equipment of the general is well developed, refrain from “Leveling Up” the dragons.

You will need a lot of Lv6 and Lv7 materials and refining stones etc. to level up your dragon, but you can get more buffs sooner if you spend them on crafting and refining your general’s equipment first. Therefore, it is better to refrain from upgrading dragons until the general’s equipment is sufficient.

As for refining dragons, you will have to be careful about how many gems, refinement stones, and badges you have left to use for equipment, but you can easily get a big buff (relatively speaking, compared to dragon leveling up). For example, even a level 1 Celtic Demon can get a buff of nearly +60% attack.

How to raise the dragon’s Level (Feeding)

By feeding your dragon, you can increase its EXP.

Feed Screen

What can be given as feed changes randomly every 24 hours.

Examples of feeds – Refining stone, Resources, Gold, Lv6 Materials, Lv7 Materials, Source of Life, Badges, Medals, etc.

General Attribute Boost

General Attribute Boost

Attaching a dragon increases the stats of that general.

Thereby, it increases that general’s HP, Attack, Defense, & other “Buffs”.

HP, Attack, & Defense “Buffs” Increase

For Lv15 dragon: around 30%
For Lv10 dragon: around 20%
(Varies depending on the dragon)

Formula: Buff increase (%) = Stats increase x 0.2
If stats increase is
+6 -> +1.2%
+50 -> +10%
+100 -> +20%
+150 -> +30%

The percentage buff value can be checked on the screen of the generals’ cultivate.

The stats increase depends on the type and level of the dragon.

Note: The values shown below are based on dragon Lv10.

Refine Buff

Additional Buffs by Refine

By refining your dragon, you can add four buffs of your choice.

Of all the benefits provided by dragons, I would say this is the one that provides the most benefit. For example, if you make all four the same item (such as ranged attack), you can get a +60% (~100%) buff just by refining. (Note: Theoretical maximum value. The actual value will be lower than that.)

Refine Limits Vary by Dragon

There is a difference of up to 40%, as follows.

Pasture’s Dragon
– Celtic Demon – 60% (15% x 4)
– Jawzahr – 60% (15% x 4)
– Fafnir – 60% (15% x 4)
– Fasolt – 60% (15% x 4)

Sacred Dragon
– Norway Ridge – 80% (20% x 4)
– The dragon of Thebes – 80% (20% x 4)
– Nidhogg – 100% (25% x 4)
– Ladon – 100% (25% x 4)
– Amaterasu Dragon – 100% (25% x 4)
– Colchian Dragon – 100% (25% x 4)
– Ziz – ?
– Yggdrasil – 100% (25% x 4)

Types of Buffs that can be granted by Refine

Battle

  • Attack (Ground, Ranged, Mounted, Siege)
  • HP (Ground, Ranged, Mounted, Siege)
  • Defense (Ground, Ranged, Mounted, Siege)
  • March Speed
  • March Speed to Monsters

Resource

  • Resource Gathering Speed (Food, Lumber, Stone, Ore)
  • Troop Load (Ground, Ranged, Mounted, Siege)

Subordinate City

  • Increases Gold Production Speed in Subordinate City
  • Increases Construction Speed in Subordinate City
  • Increases Training Speed in Subordinate City
  • Increases Troop Capacity in Subordinate City

How to Refine

To refine a dragon, you need Gems, Refining Stones, Badges, and Dragon Crystals.

Dragon Refine Screen

The basic process is the same as refining equipment: each time you refine, four items and their buff values are randomly selected.

If there are any items you don’t want to change, you can lock them by paying the Dragon Crystal.

Refinement Cost (Example)

The following is for Fafnir. (It varies depending on the dragon)

  • Refine with Gems (1 time) – 400 Gems + 50 Refining Stones
  • Refine with Badges (1 time) – 5 Badges + 50 Refining Stones
  • Lock (1 item) – 5 Dragon Crystals

Talent Awakening

Each dragon’s talent will be unlocked when certain requirements are met, such as dragon level and pasture level.

However, after unlocking the talent, you will need to use gems, dragon crystals, and dragon source fragments to increase its level.

Dragon Source Fragments are available as rewards for the Battle of Constantinople (BoC) and the Battle of Gaugamela (BoG).

There are three talents for each dragon.

The first 2 are only effective for troops led by a general equipped with that dragon.

The 3rd is an active skill. This can be used at will and lasts for a certain amount of time. After using it, there is a certain cooldown period during which it cannot be used. (e.g., for Norway Ridge, effective for 4 hours. 24 hour cooldown after activation begins.)

However, several active skills of different dragons can be used simultaneously.

Talent level cap

1st: Lv100
2nd: Lv100
3rd: Lv60

*Until June 19, 2023, each level was up to Lv40.

I really appreciate your articles and have been following them regularly. I’m a free player and have reached K37 now.
I want to use the dragon of Thebes for elektra which heads my 2nd archer march.
I have refined the dragon to a certain extent.
Pic attached.

The main defense general is Boudica and I don’t have a dragon to put on her. All the 4 dragons are on Simeon, Roland, Elise and Elektra.
Can I put a spiritual beast on boudica. As I don’t have the Godzilla, Can I put Chiron on her as I have both mounted and ground for defense, so I can focus on getting its level maxed slowly.

In general, it is not recommended to put Thebes on marching generals. It will nullify about half of Thebes’ buffs. I think it is very wasteful. Also, if you have a few hundred million t1 cavalry, Thebes refinement is a very valuable way to add a flat buff to your cavalry. I believe this is a must for stronger t1 cavalry.

But if you still have a reason to do so, you have to add a spiritual beast.
Which spiritual beast is better depends on what kind of defense you want in the end. If you are infantry and cavalry oriented, Chiron. If you want archer, siege, and ground, Nandi. (if considered without godzilla).

I have several screenshots from training Yggdrasil. For now I will share the dragon talents, because it’s a lot…

note: the requirements to unlock the talents are the same as Ziz and other All Star sacred dragons

Anonymous

A little more about Yggdrasil:

The refine limit is 25%, so 4×25% = 100%

In my excitement to feed it I forgot to note/screenshot the XP and power at levels 2, 3, and 4

Level 5: 12M XP, 480,000 Power
Level 6: 19.3M XP, 600,000 Power
Level 7: 25.3M XP, 740,000 Power
Level 8: 32.1M XP, 900,000 Power
Level 9: 42M XP, 1,080,000 Power

Not quite made it to level 10 yet, though I expect the power ramp is the same as other All Star Sacred dragons.

Anonymous

further developments:

talent 1 and talent 2 have the same % growth value (apologies, I advanced talent 2 past 40 before taking a picture), so the level 40 value of talent one is the same for talent 2 at the same level.

Anonymous

any chance to get some insight in Ygrrdasil ?
at least which are the talents opened ?

Anonymous

thank you so much for your efforts.
I have a question about thebes .. if it is assigned to the wall defense general the first talent works for the city siege or only the second talent ?
many thanks again

So much to read and I might have missed it but can anyone tell me how to get a dragon Affect flying around the outside of the castle pls ???

Thanks for all the info you provide, it is amazing and a great guide line for players.
DO you have any articles on Dragons refining? I mean which refines are recommended for each Dragon? For exemple: Celton is recommended to have all attack %, what about for Norway?
Thanks

I am an unpaid player who recently unlocked Norway Ridge.
Regarding “Example of Dragon Attachment: For small charge.” Would the admin recommend that I should focus only on the two dragons in the pasture, as it is very hard to grow the sacred dragons?

Anonymous

I am an unpaid player who recently unlocked Wonder.
Regarding the example of the dragon attachment with “For small charge”. Are you saying that I should focus my resources on Norway Ridge and Fafnir because even if I could get the Sacred dragons, I am limited in the growth of those dragons?

The reason we have not listed the holy dragon in the section for the case of a small charge is simply because a very few people are able to obtain the sacred dragon.
If you are able to obtain the sacred dragon, it would be better to put it as described in the section for the medium-charge case.

My question is, do the dragon gems disappear at the end of the event?
It says the compass 🧭 will disappear, but there is no mention of the dragon gems 💦.

Certain dragons need to be leveled up.
Check Castle Decorate > Miracle > Dragon.

Does dragon refining affect your troops in the same way gear refining does ? ie flat refines for lower tier troops and % refines for high tier troops ?

Wicksell

To increase power from general 5.8M to K36 every power increase is important. has information on the power of each dragon at its level, example: Bellerian lv 8=800k, fafnir lv 7= 650k, viserion lv 10=1.2M, Drogon lv 10=1.23M. I would like to know about this power at levels 11, 12, 13 to 15

Does a Lv10 dragon prevent capture of the general? Or is it just killed it prevents?

It doesn’t actually prevent them from being killed. I’ve had my generals killed multiple times with level 10 and higher dragons attached. I contacted evony and was told it only cuts the chances in half not get rid of it. That was obviously bs as the general always dies if you lose enough troops but my generals die maybe 2% of the time.e and only during svs. It’s obviously a glitch and they just don’t want to deal with it.

Step 940

Ziz 1 – cav attack defense 20%
2 – cav siege attack 20%
3- 15 troop attack -15 Hp enemy
With level 10
180/20/0
-35 Ghp and troop -15hp (factors into ground already)

Shoulda gone with colt

Step 940

Update – was wrong

Ziz

Skill 1 -> 25% attack and defense for cav
Skill 2 -> 25% attack for cav and siege (assumption but may be 20%)
Skill 3 -> we both assume 15% troop attack and enemy Hp debuff

Main skill

10 -> cav attack 25% ground debuff 20%

Total cav level 10

190% attack and 25% defense Cavalry

Makes him better than nidhogg by a slight degree. Loss of Hp for defense blows slightly.

Plan to use him as primary cav and nidhogg as secondary archer attack/ holding buildings

Anonymous

Ziz skill 1 – cav att and def 20%
Skill 2 – cav and siege attack 20%
Skill 3 we know

No real upgrade for cav. Weak. Shoulda chosen colt. FML

I have a question about matching in Battlefield, but since there was no category, I will write it in this article, which is similar in content.
Is the criteria for matching the total combat power of the entrants?
Or is it the average value?
If you know, please let me know.

Celtic 10-11 (?), 11-12, 31M

Unlock 11, 30% Ranged Attack, 30% Ground Defense, +16 March Size
Unlock 12, 35% Ranged Attack, 35% Ground Defense, +17 March Size

Fafnir 10-11, 29.04M

Unlock 11, +30 Marching Mounted, +30% Marching Siege, +31 March Speed

How much power will increase once leveled up to 11?

Each dragon requires an equal percentage of experience points at the same level as a celtic dragon. This will allow you to estimate the experience required for all dragons.
For example celtic and fabnir lv 1->2 have a 120% experience ratio.
If so, celtic and fabnir will all see a 120% XP ratio at the same level.
Also, celtic and norway have a 130% experience ratio. This applies equally to all other levels at 130%.
This applies equally to the dragon’s experience system, so you can calculate all the required experience from the experience required for one level of that dragon.

1->2 720,000
2->3 1,440,000
3->4 3,120,000
4->5 5,760,000
5->6 12,000,000
6->7 19,273,200
7->8 25,344,000
8->9 32,136,000
9->10 42,000,000

Ladon, Amaterasu, Colchain are same as Nidhogg

I think there was a typo when I wrote this comment.
When calculating double experience of Celtic
About Nidhogg, Radon, Amaterasu, and Colchain
lv6->lv7 19,272,000 would be correct.

I am starting to strengthen my dragons to make me a dragon master, but at what level do I need to reach? I would appreciate it if you could tell me if you remember.

Poderia explicar o que significa, ativado após 4 horas da descoberta do talento. Tenho que fazer algo a mais depois de liberar ou simplesmente colocar o dragão na decoração da cidade?

Kathernator

Colchian 2nd talent maxxed is Siege Attack 20% mounted troop HP 30% he’s a weirdo

Is it correct to say that the General Survival Rate +100% means that it will not die? For example, if I attach a dragon with this skill to a wall defender in SvS and ghosting, will he not die when attacked by the enemy?

Anonymous

Yes, you have a nearly immortal defender. In addition, if you put a dragon on the main defender, even the assistant defender will survive. However, the reason it is “nearly” is because they rarely die, probably due to the enemy’s “Wounded to Death” debuff. But it is almost immortal.

RealBadMF

No, your dragon will just be stagnant and will not grow in level

Hello I have a question I stop playing a couples of months and I came back to the game, I had my Celtic dragon assigned to my main general but apparently it was either kill or take away and so my dragon with him, do you have an idea how could I get my dragon back? It show it assigned to a general but i don’t have that general anymore, any idea will be very welcome thanks in advance

I think someone burned your castle and the general is a prisoner of war.
You can pay gems to have him released or he will return after some time.
He may be executed, but he can be resurrected from the shrine.

I think it should be, but I don’t know at this time.
In addition, the screenshot I saw of the new dragon’s unique buffs screen was infantry, although it looked like it was still under development.
There are already two infantry dragons, so I think that will (or should) probably be changed, but I don’t know what will happen.

Is there a maximum level for dragon talents? Thanks for the great content

Very rightfully so, you advise

First, you should concentrate on “Refining” your dragon.
Until the equipment of the general is well developed, refrain from “Leveling Up” the dragons.

But to get some Ares gear you need to be Dragon Master (aka a dragon with 500.000 power).
My Celtic is refined (55%) and lvl.5, but still at 380.000 power.
What is the most economical way to reach the threshold of 500.000 power?

Hello!

Amazing guides, thank you!

Some info about Ladon:

Dragon fury – dragon lvl 3 – Ranged attack (max 25%), Ranged defense (max 25%)
Toxic king – dragon lvl 6 – Ranged attack buff, Siege attack debuff

2 -> 3 – 1.4m
3 -> 4 – 3.1m
4 -> 5 – 5.8m
5 -> 6 – 12m
6 -> 7 – 19.3m
7 -> 8 – 25.3m

Hello. I’ve heard that reaching lv30 pasture, you can unlock Celtic Demon without gems. Is that true?

Ndofusia

Hello,
I’d like to know, can I unlock the Wonder and getting my Nidhogg by standing at k25 ?

Can we get Nidhogg only by ranking at BOC top 100, or BOG too or another events ???

Thanks

You can’t do that with k25.
You need k30 to unlock the Wonder 1.
To upgrade to Wonder 3, you need to rank in the BOC (wonder > glory “Invincible Hero”).

Do you know if both talents stack together? Or is it only the one selected that applies?

Nidhogg appears to cover mounted or archer – do you have any stat’s on what Galen’s if he were reined for archer?

Question 1: I understand that Dragon Frost should be assigned to ground generals. For this dragon’s 4 buffs, which is better, ground attack, HP, or defense?
Question 2: I understand that the Dragon of Thebes should be assigned to General Wall. If you appointed Joseph as the wall general and focus on two things: ranged and siege, which of the four buffs for Thebes’ dragon would you recommend?

There is no absolute right answer, but here is my opinion.

1 : I believe that defense and HP are more important than attack, because even if you increase attack, it is useless if your infantry die before they reach the enemy archer (unless you have a super powerful archer attack debuff). Also, at K33 and above, infantry HP is relatively easy to be heavily debuffed, so if anything, I think defense is less likely to be wasted.

2 : It depends on what your defender’s equipment refinement is. I think you should look at your equipment, dragons, etc. as a whole and add any buffs that are lacking. In my defense, I focus on attack for archer and siege, and defense/HP for infantry and cavalry, so I add what is missing from those.

Coming back to Frost, for the ground general (Elise in particular)…since this discussion is by now some old.
Your original advise was to prefer a defense refinement, as it looks less likely to be wasted by debuffs.
Is this still your recommendation?

Yes. Especially since Elise has relatively low defense, I think it is better to prioritize defense. (more than 20% lower than Scipio and Trajan at lv40/5 stars/+500)

Здравствуйте, можете подсказать норвежский хребет на какого генерала лучше прикрепить?

I’m playing on server 444.
I would really appreciate it if you could write an article about the “decorations” in the castle. m(_ _)m

For example, it says that “Apollo” is unlocked when you reach a certain ranking in the Season 4 All-Star Battlefield, but specifically, how many rankings does it take to unlock it?

I’ve open my pasture at lvl 26,and ready to waking up the celtic demon dragon. Unfortunelly i have only isabela 1 as my main general, can i install the dragon for her, is that work or not?

It is possible to assign a Celtic Demon to Isabella I, but her original skills will not be fully enabled. You will need to assign Norway Ridge to do so.

It is always very helpful to me. Thank you very much.
In the case of refine, there are two types of buffs: those that are added (“+ xxx”) and those that are multiplied (“+ xx.x%”). Do you think there is any advantage or disadvantage depending on which one?

Thank you for your reply.
If you don’t mind, I would like to go a little further and ask.

I think that the superiority or inferiority of addition and multiplication is due to the “calculation formula in the first place” or the “difference in the value that increases due to addition or multiplication”. With that in mind, please let me know what kind of grounds your idea is based on.

Thank you for everything! How can I increase a level of inspiration?

Hi I have a question so if I have enough gems to unlock the wonder can it unlock my keep is at level 22 and it requires level 30 keep

My Pasture is now Lv 26 and I have 300,000 gems, but I don’t know if I can train a dragon of decent strength since I have no money, so I haven’t released it yet.
How many resources, etc. do I need to level up or refine?
If you can give me an example, that would be great.
(For example, x amount of refining stones are needed.)

Thank you for all your help.
Are the unique buffs for dragons only available when the dragon is level 10?
My Celtic Demon (Lv6) and others don’t have that, so I’m wondering if I can find it at …….

The fourth unique buff, “General Survival Rate”, requires Lv10. 😭
If you mean you can’t find it at all, you can see it by pressing the emblem in the bottom right corner of the dragon details screen. (I added the same information to the article😃)

I always refer to this site.
Does the General Attribute buff from the Dragon reflect the Attribute condition of the Duty Officer?
